A Spiritual Breath Of Fresh Air

There is no doubt that the pandemic has taken its toll: lives lost, businesses gone, political dialogue polemic. Still, one consequence of COVID-19 has been positive. Many people have happily learned that life doesn’t need to be lived at breakneck pace. The slowing and the solitude have been a spiritual breath of fresh air. I have learned that silence really is golden and slowing and savoring spiritual practices does make me more contemplative in every area of my life.

I now enjoy turning off the television, music, and podcasts so that I can read or have an uninterrupted conversation with my husband. When people ask, I sometimes tell them that I went to “Mary’s seminary,” as in Luke 10 where Mary sits at the feet of Jesus while her sister was worried about many things. My prayer is to always remember the one important thing – sitting at the feet of Jesus.
